I am so sorry it's been so long. Life seems to be moving at warp speed these days. Theo girl is already 7 months old. She is crusing around the furniture and I don't think it will be long before we have an independent walker, oh my!Avery is almost three and a half already.Learning his letters and we are having a lot of fun together. My health.I went home to
read moreA lot happened yesterday, so it was a very productive day. I decided to putter around with the files on the computer, and there's one thing I do not understand. There's much I need help understanding, but this one is weird.
I have a folder where I put RANDOM items that didn't have a home. I've been going through that folder, which has MANY items, and I think almost everything I looked at was deleted. I'm not even close to going through that folder. That tells me something! And I've found many DUPLICATES of ...
read moreIt's back to business! I'm happy to report that my system of recreating the distribution lists worked! It's still time-consuming, but my process made it relatively pain-free, and two more lists were recreated yesterday. One of the steps is done for six more lists, and hopefully, they will get done this morning. That will leave one more to recreate tomorrow.
Let's say that the "incident" was a good eye-opener. I sure seem to have my share, but then I'm willing to let "bad" things happen and learn from them. Things change and life is much ...
read moreAt last, it's time to tell the tale of buying and selling a car.
While my old car (2019 Corolla) had no issues with it, I was never happy with that car. I hated the navigation system (or lack thereof) and hated that it only had Apple Carplay - not Android. But that wasn't enough to warrant making a change. DH's car, on the other hand, was getting old, and it was showing. When I say old -- it was well over 10 years old - I don't even remember the model year.
We had quite a few discussions ...
read moreWell, Christmas is gone for another year. I must say that we had a great day -- there were zero disappointments in who we met or didn't and what we got or didn't. We set no expectations for the day beyond our control, and you know what? It's always a great day!
One other thing that I do not understand is Christmas decorations. Don't get me wrong - I love all the Christmas decorations, and putting them up is fun if you are having a party at your house. We don't have guests, so it would be ...
read moreWhy is there always so much to do before leaving? At least this time, things are a bit calmer - I just have to pack myself and a few clothes, and then I'm out the door - no samples to pack or sewing to finish. But still, there are e-mails to send, and it always seems like there is a ton of stuff. But what doesn't get done will get done when I get back. I'll be back before the Virtual Retreat, which is next Saturday and Sunday. YES -- I get it's a busy time of year, but ...
read moreHave you ever had a day that if you kept a gratitude journal, the day would overflow? That was yesterday! So many GOOD things happened.
There has been one thing about mySewnet software that has niggled at me since I started to use it. Could I figure it out on my own? Well, sort of, but I just couldn't get the function to work properly. After watching a YouTube video --I got it! Watch me roll now!!
I figured out the daily puzzle on the Advent Calendar. While DH was home, he was busy, so I attempted it on ...
read moreI caved and looked at the third clue for the 10th puzzle in the Advent Calendar. Even after getting a hint from someone also doing it, my brain just wouldn't go down that route. Even though we had a similar type of clue earlier, well, it just wasn't happening! I get it, and it makes perfect sense. At least we figured out the first part of the clue, so we're not complete idiots!
The puzzle that almost brought me down |
I was in a bit of a huff yesterday, not because anything significant happened. OK -- DH did NOT solve the EXIT Game puzzle before he went to bed. So we attempted it again in the morning, and we were stumped. I had to check the first clue, and OMG. You have to be kidding me. We missed something so blatantly apparent that it put me in a funk for part of the day!
So last night, when we opened the next room, it was with great trepidation. And we fiddled, and we fiddled, and we chatted about it. And we ...
read moreI got practically nothing done yesterday - I don't think I even turned the sewing machine on - OH -- I did finish the applique early in the morning. There is little for sewing show and tell, but I've got other things.
The morning started with a walk in the woods with the girls. Murphy is just beyond herself with all the squirrels at the circus. They drive her MAD! She tries so hard. But I spotted this tree. I've passed this tree a gazillion times and never noticed it. But doesn't it look like a person with a ...
read moreI spent the entire morning in front of the computer. My entire morning consisted of about 2 hours as I had to have lunch early because of a dentist appointment at Noon. In those two hours, I cranked out a lot of e-mails, but I'm behind, and I still have homework to send out. Well, it's incredible how much time all those little details take.
I'll just keep plugging away at it, and as the classes are coming to a close for this year, hopefully, those follow-ups will get less and less, but then I have to ...
read moreSeriously?? What did I say the other day about my sewing projects? I said - there is NO applique or paper piecing. And then I spotted this.
My clam shell APPLIQUE block |
Yes, that is a block for the Green Tea and Sweet Beans by Jen Kingwell, which is supposed to be done (the center - no borders) by FRIDAY. I was going to start piecing it and realized that while the clam shells are glued to the block, they are NOT stitched in place. Sigh....................
So - let's get an audiobook going, dig out the thread, and guess what I'll ...
read moreOh my -- how quickly time flies! You get up to do one errand, hoping you can do one more, and then time runs out. So, I'll make a list and do it later this afternoon. It's going to be a busy day!!!
I persevered with my paper piecing. I haven't done paper piecing in a while, and it seemed I made more mistakes than necessary! But I did get the hang of it - I just found the process long and tedious. The old me would have abandoned it and moved to something easier. The new me - said ...
read morePhew -- both of the Zoom classes went off like clockwork! I knew the applique class would be fine. I swear - they have been inundated with so much information about applique, and in the words of one student - "I never knew there was so much about applique!" And yesterday, we only touched on different stitches and machine functions to make the job easier - and that was just for fused applique.
I've been doing this for 25 years, and I've made oodles of samples in my time, and I NEVER threw any of them out. Now, there are NOT tons ...
read moreI had a headache yesterday, which is extremely RARE for me - thank goodness. I hear stories from people who have migraines and headaches every day - I'd go mad! Thankfully, it wasn't a terrible headache, so I could still "function." Or so I thought.
I was attempting to prepare for my paper-piecing class this morning and listening to an audiobook. As I said - it was a mild headache. Well, I think I made every paper-piecing mistake in the book! I stitched on the wrong lines, placed the fabrics incorrectly, and sewed the wrong fabric in place - so, needless to ...

Thankfully, business travel is over for the year. I have one more trip arranged, but I need to change the dates. A task for later today.
Everything went smoothly on the flight. It's always "fun" to ensure everything is packed - did I leave anything in the room? Then you'd drop off the car? Did I leave anything in the car? Then I checked my two suitcases, but only after I put my winter coat in one of the suitcases. I was off to security ...
read moreThe days are marching right along, and it's almost the middle of October. How the heck did that happen?
I had a great day yesterday, and I'm happy to report that I have my old energy level and motivation back! That took some time, but it wasn't surprising considering how much time I "slacked" off in the summer months. I think the temperature change (season) has helped a lot, and a few deadlines as well.
I wonder how I would cope in a climate without that temperature change or where it always stayed warm? I'd be ...
read moreI've got time change woes! I can't seem to get to sleep until much later than usual and, hence, waking up much later! I can't let that happen tomorrow, as I need to be on the road EARLY! Let's hope my clock resets tonight. I have no idea how people who travel through different time zones a lot can manage!
After spending most of the morning doing paperwork and answering e-mails, it was time to move on to something else. I will say that the unsubscribing I've been doing seems to make a big difference ...
